VUYO’S™ BRAAIWORS, BEEF CHOPS, MASH & CHAKALAKA RELISH

INGREDIENTS

VUYO’S™ BRAAIWORS & BEEF CHOPS

  • 2 kg Beef chops, chuck
  • 50 g Savanna Braai Spice (08700010)
  • 2 kg Wors, made using Vuyo’s™ Braaiwors (03867915)

INSTANT MASH POTATO

  • 1.8 L (7¼ cups) Milk/Water, boiling
  • 400 g Instant Mash Potato R/P (08511010)

CHAKALAKA RELISH

  • 45 ml (3 Tbsp) Oil, frying
  • 500 g (2 large) Onions, chopped
  • 100 g (1 small) Green pepper, chopped
  • 50 g (½ small) Red pepper, chopped
  • 50 g (3 Tbsp) Tomato paste
  • 100 g (1 sachet) Chakalaka Base R/P (08556030)
  • 820 g (2 cans) Tomatoes, chopped
  • 800 ml (3¼ cups) Water

METHOD

1. For the braaiwors & chops: Preheat an oven to 200°C. 2. Season beef chops with Savanna Braai Spice, coating evenly. 3. Place chops and braaiwors on oiled baking trays and cook for ± 15 minutes, turning half way. 4. For the Instant Mash Potato: Add the boiling milk/water to the Instant Mash Potato R/P. 5. Gently mix together until smooth. 6. For the Chakalaka Relish, heat the oil in a large pot and fry the onions until soft and transparent. 7. Add the peppers and fry for ± 2 minutes. 8. Add the tomato paste and mix through. 9. Add the Chakalaka Base R/P, tomatoes and half the water (400 ml). 10. Bring mixture to boil. Gradually add the remaining water. 11. Reduce the heat and simmer for ± 15 minutes or until thickened. 12. Serve the wors, chops and mash with the chakalaka relish.
